Name: Kristin LiBritz |
| I am very pleased to write this letter of nomination in support of Ms Kristin LiBritz for the "20 Outstanding Women You Should Know 2011". I have known Kristin since 1997 in many capacities. First as a student at Ithaca College, where she earned a BA in sociology. After leaving Ithaca she became a graduate student at Syracuse University in the Higher Education Administration program. I again came to know Kristin as an intern with the office of Career Services where she prepared herself in a practicum to be a Career Counselor. During that same period Kristin worked as a part-time Admission Counselor at IC and as a County Coordinator for Reality Check , CAPCO in Cortland County in a grassroots youth action movement to promote healthy decision making with tobacco and other drugs. In 2005 Kristin joined the staff at Ithaca College as an Assistant Director of Admission. And finally in 2007 she joined the staff at Career Services as the Employer Relations Coordinator. As a young professional Kristin is one of those selfless individuals who work behind the scenes dedicated to her profession and her community. As Employer Relations Coordinator at IC, Kristin has created programs such as Take and Ithacan to Work Week, helping to connect students with many Ithaca professionals for opportunities to shadow and intern. In her efforts, students and our local businesses have benefitted from making the connection which have promotion positive community relations and encouraged students to realize the wealth of opportunity there is in our small town. Kristin also created the Speed Networking which has been running for three years. This program brings together many professionals to share their experience with student at Ithaca College. She has shared this program with the Chamber of Commerce, TC3 and Cornell University to create an outstanding program for our local students to get to know what Ithaca has to offer and to teach others the art of professional networking. Through the four years of the 20 Outstanding Women You Should Know program, I have had the opportunity to be acquainted with many of the outstanding women and Kristin should be no exception. She is committed to making a difference and creating opportunities for young and old alike to see what a wonderful community we experience together. Nominated by John Bradac Bio: Kristin is involved in activities to encourage young professionals to make upstate New York their home. An important issue for our communities, she has incorporated that mission into her work as the Employer Relations Coordinator in the Ithaca College Office of Career Services. The local job-shadow program and speed networking event that she has implemented is as beneficial to the community as it is to the students.
