Name: Deb Regnier |
| "I nominate Debra S. Regnier as an Outstanding Woman. I am her Father. Her Mother and I have proudly watched Debra grow from an energetic and inquisitive child and youth into a responsible and charming woman. In her high school and college years, she was active in a wide assortment of extra-curricular activities, while maintaining an excellent academic standing. She was a Foreign Exchange Student to Belgium (Rotary program) during her junior year in high school. In college she was active in student affairs and was elected Homecoming Queen in her Senior Year. She worked 2 jobs to put her husband through dental school. Since their divorce, she had single-handedly raised two children. She has been active in Trumansburg church, school and community activities/programs for the past twenty years. She has served as Superintendent of the Sunday School in both the United Methodist and Presbyterian churches. She has served as Elder in the Presbyterian Church. She has worked with the production of school plays and musicals. Now with her older child in college, she has returned to college herself in pursuit of a degree in Occupational Therapy. If someone is ill or in need of any support, Deb is there to offer what she can. She is a giving compassionate person who is deserving of recognition as an Outstanding Woman." Nominated by David P. Lubba "I am nominating a women who has shown me nothing but love and care, Her name is Deb Regnier, we met a couple years ago when she and her two kids (Ariel and Wesley) joined our church. I've had the privilege to get to know all of them very well over the past couple years. I think Deb deserves this kind of recognition just for the shear amount of love she has in her heart, she is always looking for some way to help others. Even having undergone surgery for a broken back in past years, its as if her energy is never ending. her kids look up to her and admire her and so do I. Not only is she a great mother, but a great student, trying to work her way back out onto the job market by returning to school with a farm to take care of, one kid at college, and the other a freshman in high school. She has embraced me as if i was part of her family and thats something i will cherish forever. I could ask Deb for just about anything and she would be there to help, like my own mother would. I hope that you take into consideration my nomination for Deb Regnier and all other nominations for her, she has been threw so much. Yet she keep chugging down the tracks and helping everyone along the way. Thanks you" Nominated by Tyler F Kraus "Deb is one of the most down to earth and genuine person I know. As long as I have known her, she has always put other people's needs before her own. She always presents a positive attitude and looks for the best in everyone. She takes initiative in matters of importance to her, which reach world-wide. She has done extensive missionary work. She has passed these attributes down, which is readily seen in her daughter." Nominated by Geri Judd "My mom is an amazing woman. Not only does she work tirelessly hard for those that she loves, but she also has the capacity to give, herself, her time, and her money, to anyone and everyone who needs it. My mom has always been an active part of our community, and has touched many peoples lives with her love and caring. Throughout my education, for as long as I can remember, my mom has always been a much needed helping hand at school. She would always volunteer her time for any field trip that my class would go on; taking the responsibility to watch over groups of children and guide them with proper instruction when the teacher was preoccupied with her own students. She would offer her time even when teachers where not asking for it, and they would always gratefully accept the helping hand. My elementary and middle school would also hold book fairs, and every year she would be there, taking care of the station, to relieve the only other worker, to help sell books to kids and interest them in the joys of reading. For all of my school plays, my mom would go to great lengths to help with the set building and costume making, even though she was not a professional painter or seamstress. She would come to the all day Saturday rehearsals to help the stressed out directors manage the kids, and keep the process of summoning students for costume fittings running smoothly. During the productions she would be back stage, braiding hair and applying make-up, then supervising the children in the gym who were not on stage. For school dances she would be a chaperone, for school sporting events she would man the concession stand, for my jazz concerts she would bake goods, and all of this she would do with a smile on her face. Teachers and students alike remember her and love her for all of her time and effort that she offered, even if it only touched their lives in a small way. My mom has also been very active in my church, and in turn, with our church family. She has been the head of Sunday school for multiple years, both when I was younger and for the recent past three years. And every other year she has volunteered to be a Sunday school teacher; actually caring enough to create interesting lesson plans to keep the children interested and learning at the same time. She has volunteered mission trips, and spent much time organizing and participating in fundraising activities to make those trips possible. She has opened her home multiple times for church functions, such as Christmas parties, choir get togethers, and family fun events for the families in the church with younger people. She has helped to organize many Christmas pageants, and has stepped up to the plate to help out our bell choir when they were hurting for players. When we organize food dishes or gifts to deliver to the elderly members of our church who do not come to church anymore, my mom volunteers to drive to these people's houses to deliver what may be the only caring thing these people receive. She has participated in the Crop Walk for a number of years, participated in rake-n-runs, and has helped members of the church with their own personal needs many many times. All of her friends always know that they can call on her when they need an extra hand. She has just recently finished helping her friend replace her floor with wood flooring, which took weeks of painstaking work, just out of kindness. She has watched over numerous housed, fed many different dogs, and watered dozens of plants while friends have been on vacations, and has never complained about it. She has offered her time and resources, such as her car, trailers, lawnmower, tractor, to many people who need it. She is apart of a support group, and has become a close friend with many of them, and offers her house to them as well to hold meetings and get togethers. If I wanted to I could fill a book with stories of my mother's good deeds, and those are only the ones I know of. My mom is a wonderful person who has devoted so much time throughout her life to helping everyone else that she deserves to be recognized this once for her selflessness. " Nominated by Ariel Regnier "An exceptional woman!" Caleb Payne "Debra is my niece and I have always felt that she was a "go getter". She has an abundance of energy and uses it to its fullest. She is a wonderful mother to Wesley and Ariel and puts their well being first and foremost in her life. I know she is very active in her church and strong in her faith. She is very involved in activities in her community. She definitely is a "outstanding woman" and I am honored to nominate her for this award." Nominated by Marlene Goodwin "You may think that I am biased nominating my sister for this award. Maybe I am, but who would better know and understand her more than her own brother. Debra is truly an amazing and driven individual. Active in her church and community. Always on the go. Deb has recently started back to school to start a new career in occupational therapy. It is hard enough these days starting a career but Deb is doing it while continuing to be a dedicated mother of two and remaining commited to her other community responsibilities. Deb also has a small farm that she maintains on her own. She has chosen a career that will only continue to give back to her community. Recent set-backs in her life have not changed her motivation or drive. Deb has come through a divorce and 2 back surgeries. Through all that Deb has continued to maintain a caring and positive attitude. It is because of all this, and a great deal of pride that I would like to nominate her for this prestigious award. Deb can only inspire others." Nominated by Nathan Lubba "Deb Regnier is always involved in leadership roles in whatever she does, comes prepared with good agendas, and good at delegating responsibility. - As a single Mom her children always come first: - at school: helping in home rooms, guiding in after school activities, sewing costumes for the plays for anyone in the play that needs one(or for unique Halloween costumes for her children); encouraging her children to be active in sports; encouraging them in their school work and thus they get all "A"s and take Advanced Placement courses, and head off to college with stellar back-grounds. - Because Deb likes to travel, she has included her children in travel, too, by taking them on Safari in Africa, and on Church Mission Trips and several others. - Deb loves animals and has a mini-farm with chickens and goats and 2 dogs, and in the past has had horses - 7 at one time(mostly rescue horses). - She often runs in special races, often with her daughter. She competed in one of the Dragon Boat races. - Deb is finishing her first two years in college for Occupational Therapy. - Active in her church, teaching, part of the search committee for a new minister, playing hand bells, was superintendent of Sunday School. - Deb is a friend who is supportive, constant, and loyal, and always willing to help - even to laying flooring. Please consider her for this wonderful recognition." Nominated by Hester Welch "She is an amazing women amd very loving and caring." Wesley Regnier "Is very nice" Tyler Schaffhouser Bio: Born upstate western NY (near Buffalo), the youngest of three; I grew up in the Philippines as my family served as missionaries (father a United Methodist minister – now retired). Spent a year abroad as a Rotary Exchange student in Belgium my junior year in high school. Graduated from Penfield High School (suburb of Rochester). Attended Albright College, Reading PA, majoring in Bio/Chem, Business Administration. Two weeks after graduation I married my college sweetheart. We eventually settled in Trumansburg in 1990. I was employed at Challenge Industries for about 10 years as Program Manager within the community employment department; leaving Challenge only to ‘run’ our home and family farm as the children got older. I am now a single mom, with two AMAZING teenage children: son 15, a freshman in high school, and my daughter, 18, a freshman at Univ at Buffalo studying mechanical/aerospace engineering. We have a small farm outside of Trumansburg. I have tried to raise my children with a positive outlook, a passion for life and a respect for the people around them. We had an amazing opportunity to join another family to go on a camping safari to Africa, Namibia. What a wonderful life experience vs. a vacation at a 5 star resort with X number of pools. I have also encouraged my children to participate in mission projects. Ariel having done several local mission projects, together we went to Guatemala in 2009 to work at a local orphanage. This was truly a life changing experience for Ariel as her career passion is now for mission work – peace corps/engineers without borders, etc. I am taking Wesley on the same mission trip to Guatemala this coming July/August. It is a part of me I wish to share with my children. I have returned to school to finally pursue my dream after almost 25 years on having it on the back burner and create my career path.” The last 6 years have been difficult with many physical (back surgeries) and health issues that I have had to overcome. But between my experience with Challenge Industries, work within my church and my personal struggles, I have found my passion: helping other people to succeed by working one-on-one with them. My dream! |
